I know the ‘TAX DAY’ rally went well. I wasn’t able to stay long. Pete and I were in suffering from bad colds and had just buried a beloved pet an hour earlier. We still wanted to be supportive. From what we viewed, WOW! Very well organized and I was so happy to see such a wonderful turnout. GREAT JOB!!

I have added a couple new posts. I am hoping to inspire some dialog here. I would enjoy some spirited conversations and posts. Please visit the forum and view what I have added and post if you feel you have something to add. Let us get this place going!!

Sue and I are at the GOP convention in Grand Forks.  It is our first time as Delegates and the first time at a political convention.  It has been a very good experience and we met alot of good people.  We both looked like a sticker truck ran us over by the end of the day.

Around noon the speaker gave all of us (around 1500 delegates and 500 guests) Pomeroy’s office phone number to tell him  to vote no on the Health Care debacle, but all we got was a answering machine. So about 15 minutes later he got on the mic and said call this number, Its Pomeroy’s cell phone number. So almost 2000 people all at once called his cell phone and filled his mailbox in seconds, then he answered and asked “how did you get this number ” and hung up. So then almost 2000 people all text’d him over and over until he turned his cell phone service off and got a new number.  Good stuff lol.

Berg handily got the nomination for Congress, Governor Hoeven handily got the nomination for Senate, Wayne Stenjem was Nominated for Attorney General, which is where he is now.

Being Sue and I first time as delegates and new to the convention we were impressed with the whole day. We were told it was the biggest turnout for a convention ever. It was a very interesting, exciting and educating experience. To see many people parading around the whole room after each nominee finished their speech’s, dancing, hooting and hollering, whistling, was very exciting and contagious lol.

With this Health Care debacle heavy on our minds and hearts, as we leave tomorrow, we hope our votes will count and help us in getting our country back!

As most of you know I spend alot of time on my trustie laptop and watching the news when I’m at home.  The last week has been a scary scene for a regular person like me watching what our leaders are doing in Washington.  First it was going to be reconciliation, now today I see Pelosi saying she wants to use “Deem and Pass”, which from what I understand means no voting, just passing the Obamacare bill.  Now from what I remember from school that is what dictators do.  Did I wake up in China?  I AM SICK OF THIS!  WE THE PEOPLE ARE NOT BEING LISTENED TO!  I would like to ask you to think about a few things and ask yourself is this is how you want to live.  DO you want to be told what you can eat?  DO you want to be told what your kids WILL learn in school?  DO you want to be told how to raise your kids?  DO you want to be told how to speak?  DO you want you rights as gun owners taken away?  Do you want to be told what kind of light bulbs, appliances, cars to buy?  DO you want to be told what religion you can practice and how to practice it? These things are already happening people.

Did you know that is the Obamacare bill there is a part in there for student loans?  why would there be a part for student loans in a health care bill you ask?  Because its NOT about health care, its about CONTROL.  They ( the government) wants to take full control of all student loans, take away any private loans companies. Which means THEY decide who goes to a good or bad collage, they CONTROL it.

Did you also know that President Obama is also head of the security council for the UN?  You can not hold two offices in the United States.  In the Constitution it states: ” No title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States.  And no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from King, Price, or Foreign State”.

As we all see The President, Congress, well all of them seem to throw our Constiution in the trash EVERYDAY and I am sick of it. We are becoming a one world government little by little everyday. they do not care, the yare outright telling us what they will do, not caring what the American people think or say.  That, my friends, is Tyranny.  Pull your heads out of the sand PLEASE!  Educate yourself, stand up for yourself and proclaim that ” I AM A FREE PERSON AND I WANT MY FREE NATION BACK, I WILL NOT LET YOU TAKE MY FREEDOM FROM ME WITHOUT A FIGHT!”  Please do what you can before we lose everything.

Stand up for yourselves, go to your State Representatives doors and sit there till they will hear your voice, WE THE PEOPLE WILL NOT STAND TO SEE OUR CONSTITUTION SPAT UPON BY OUR “LEADERS” EVERYDAY, WE WILL NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Hello fellow Williston citizens.  There is alot of issues going on at the moment, Health Care ( probably going to get rammed thru on reconciliation), our ungodly deficiet, the fighting back and forth and nothing being done.  There are poeple and a movement out there bent on making government in every part of our lives.   I heard a guy on one of the shows on Fox say he wants to make everyone pay for health care, take over all the farms, take all the guns away and be able to take anything from you he wants to thru government action.  Now that’s is the far left whack jobs of course, but what the progressives want is not that far off.  A lady on O’Reilly, a progressive,  said that yes we should force everyone to pay for health care.  Any one with a brain can see that that thinking is authoritarian.  The whole concept of freedom is not being forced to do ANYTHING PERIOD.  These people that do not bat an eye at the thinking that this government forcing us to do things are called progressives and there are alot of them out there.  So be careful not to let them influence your thinking or what the forefathers wanted for us.

All of this has also got me thinking of our own city and things going on in it.  Our Mayoral candidate Sue Evans is shedding light on some issues that deserve all of our attention as a citizen.  Now if you go to church and when the basket is passed around and you put money in it, , do you ever think ” what do they do with the money I donate?”  Most Church’s tell you at every service in the beginning announcements. Same goes for our local Tea Party, EVERY financial decision is voted on by everyone plus we state what has been spent and what is left.  Hrmm so let me think here……I wonder hmmm……I wonder what the heck the city spends all of my tax money on and if there are any businesses that don’t pay taxes…hrmm I wonder.

Any person in our City that stops and thinks for a sec would say ” wait, yea I would like to know where, how, who, when my money is spent because…oh wait that’s right I voted everyone one of them in and they work for ME!”  All humor aside we should for sure know what the elected officials are doing with OUR money we pay in taxes and also if someone is not paying thier fair share.  So please show support for the Transparency Resolution, because honestly we should not have to put in a resolution to see what and how our money is being spent on and if its going where it should be.

I attempted to test the tranparency issue with our city. I called and visited with Sandy. I requested (and with my offer to pay for the copies and time,) I asked for a copy of the contract for the sale of land between Waters Edge LP and the City of Williston. I was told I may get to see the purchase agreement but not the contract. Waters Edge has changed and is now CDI. We are the City and I would like to know how much we sold our land for. I told her I would like the contract. I have studied the laws and can find nothing that states these are confidential from the public view. Does anyone else have knowledge of the laws on contracts drawn by cities for sale of land?

I visited with Justin and he had a great point. Let us consider when we donate money to our local church. The church will quickly justify the expenditures and amounts it has in the accounts. We also report our dollars brought in and sent out of our Tea party account. This is money we gave willingly. We are forced to pay our taxes and yet most people do not care on what or where those dollars are being spent. Let’s try an experiment at the next meeting. How many of us do not care where our donations are going or how much is in the account. I suggest just for fun, a proposal to run this function just like the city. If a member wants to know any thing about the funds, they fill out a form and pay for copies.

I was very honored to be invited to attend our local Lincoln Dinner last night.  It was very humbling to be in the presence on the elite of Williston and the state.  I must say everyone was very friendly and inviting.  I was able to meet alot of people I have never met before along with the Governor of our state.  It was a full house and the atmosphere in the room was one of excitement, excitement because the Republican party is growing everyday and the Conservative movement is growing everyday.  I would like to thank the people that invited me to the dinner ( you know who you are), and again that I was very honored to be there. The speakers were great I must say the key note speaker Mr. Stenehjem was very good and I enjoyed what he said very much, he is doing great work for our state.

That all being said my focus at the moment is on the our Senate race.  In my opinion Paul Sorum makes more sense then any of the others in the race.  In the very small amount of time he was able to speak last night he made alot of good points, one of the his more repeated comments was we need to get the radicals out of Washington and he is right.  Because they ARE radicals in our government.  Any government that uses reconciliation (nuclear option) to ram through a Health Care Bill that is 1/5th of our economy is radical.  Never before has reconciliation been used for such a huge hit on our economy, NEVER!  Yes it has been used before, something like 20 some times or more BUT never for something this huge, not only is it unconstitutional but its just wrong.   Our fathers intended a 60 majority vote to make things fair, NOT a 51 vote.

So in my opinion we need people like Paul Sorum and people with his views and belief system in our midst and our government,  NOT the radicals we have now, NO MORE career politicians, back door meetings, huge spending, the unconditional stripping of our rights as God fearing Americans wanting and working for the American Dream!

Well Well,the summit held by the dems on thurs feb 25 2010, a DOG&PONY SHOW; Bottom line  Pres Obama threatening to use reconciliation to push through a health care take over, that overwhelming the citizens of N.DAK have rejected, yet our leaders, Dorgan, Conrad, Pomeroy, have voted for, here are their numbers, call them , let your voice be heard,Byron Dorgan, 701-250-4618, Kent Conrad 701-268-4648, Earl Pomeroy 701-224-0355, what more can I say Please call them, It may make a difference?????????  VERNON BROSSART, ITS ALL ABOUT CONTROL!

Well I have been sitting here for awhile listening to the “Health Care Summit” and I wish i had some popcorn and milk duds. I feel as if I’m in a theatre watching a movie, honestly it has been nothing but theatre, nothing is or will be accomplished in my humble view.  Regardless of what happens here today the Dems will ram thru plan B tomorrow or next week.  Honestly the Repubs hit a home run with what they did, they laid out plan after plan an d the Dems kept telling sob stories pulling at heart strings.  For me and I am just getting into this political thing, as a normal Joe watching I was disgusted over the Dems and the Presidents rebuttals to the Repubs plans and comments.  In the beginning when Lamar Alexander asked that the President and the Dems to renounce the reconciliation of this bill with 51 votes, Obama said “The people are not interested in all of that lets get down to the substance of this bill”  so in essence saying he will not say they won’t ram it through like a freight train.  So I guess when 56% of Americans say to start over and do it right, Obama does not care what Repubs or WE THE PEOPLE think.  Justin Mattern
